The game stayed close but eventually Saint Mary of the Woods took a small lead and won the set 25-22 to go up 1-0 in the match.

The Pomeroys came out strong in the second set to take a commanding 8-2 lead. Alfred State was able to cut into the lead some midway through the set but was never able to pull even as Saint Mary of the Woods took a 2-0 lead, winning the match 25-18. In the third set Saint Mary of the Woods got out to an early 6-4 advantage.

The Pomeroys extended the lead to 19-11. Alfred State fought back to cut the game to 22-21 but Saint Mary of the Woods was able to hang on 25-22, winning the game in straight sets and moving on to the USCAA Volleyball National Championship game.
