ON THE COURT: The fourth-seeded Alfred State College Pioneers were upset by the fifth-seeded Saint Mary of the Woods College Pomeroys in a three set match (25-20, 19-25, 13-15). The first set was tied early before Saint Mary of the Woods took a 7-4 lead. Alfred State battled back to tie the game at 10-10 before taking the lead in the set for good, winning it 25-20. In the second set the Pomeroys quickly got out to a 5-1 lead, which they kept until Alfred State tied it at 16-16. Saint Mary of the Woods got the lead again though and stayed in front to win the set 25-19. The third set saw the game tied 7-7 and then again at 13-13 before the Pomeroys were able to rally, claiming the next two points and the match.
