ON THE COURT: Ninth-seeded University of Maine Fort Kent Bengals defeated the fourth-seeded Alfred State Pioneers in two straight sets, 2-0 (25-18, 25-19), to get to 1-0 in pool play A. In a tightly contested first set, the Bengals were able to record 9 kills to give them a slight advantage over the Hornets to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

In a back and forth second set, the Bengals were again able to take advantage of their efficient play as they recorded 11 kills for a .300 percentage. Throughout the entire match, the University of Maine Fort Kent had a total of 20 kills against the Pioneers to seal their first victory of the day.
