ON THE COURT: #1 Florida College used quick spurts and efficient offense to defeat #9 Carlow University in two sets, 2-0 (25-12, 25-14) to improve their record to 3-0 in the pool play portion of the 2014 USCAA Volleyball National Championships.
Both teams were deadlocked at three apiece to begin the first set of the match, however, the Falcons used a 9-3 run to take control of the set and force a Carlow University timeout. Led by USCAA Volleyball Player of the Year, Malea Kalina, the Falcons recorded 15 kills on 29 total attacks to earn the first set victory, 25-12.
Florida College picked up in the second set right where they left in the first set as they used a 10-1 run to start the set. Carlow battled back, but could not overcome the deficit and the .536 hitting percentage the falcons used to earn a 25-14 second set and match victory.
